Hip-hop superstar breaks the ‘Drake curse’ with 7-figure payout on the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win, while Israel ‘Izzy’ Adesanya also wins a nice stack of cash.

Time to Break the Curse

Many superstitious Kansas City Chiefs fans would have been biting their nails on Sunday morning when Stake.com posted on its X (formerly Twitter) page that Drake, a.k.a. Drizzy, had put down $1,171,070.42 on their team.

Drake is well-known for his mammoth sports bets at the world’s favorite crypto-gambling site, Stake.com. Having lost vast sums on the FIFA World Cup final and multiple UFC events, including a $700K bet on Strickland at UFC 297, his wagers picked up the ‘cursed’ tag.

Super Bowl LVIII was a battle of defenses in the first quarter, with neither side able to put anything on the scoreboard.

The San Francisco 49ers got their offence going in the second quarter, however, and raced into a 10-point lead, which included a 55-yard field goal - the longest successful kick in Super Bowl history. The Chiefs got a field goal of their own to cut the lead to 10 - 3 at the end of the half.

Drake must have been sweating a little at this point, but when you are back a team with Patrick Mahomes as quarterback, you are never truly out of the match. The Chiefs dominated the 3rd period and took the lead 10 - 13 as the teams headed to the fourth.

Jennings scored a touchdown for the 49ers at the start of the fourth, but the extra point kick was blocked. How costly this would prove to be. The Chiefs got another field goal before both teams exchanged FDs in the last few minutes, which sent the game into overtime with the socred tied at 19.

San Francisco drew first blood with another field goal. This set up Mahomes for the final Kansas City drive, and he threw the winning pass to Hardman win 3 seconds left on the clock.

The Drake curse was snapped. His $1,171,070.42 wager at odds of 2.04 resulted in a payout of $2,388,983.66.

Izzy Lands the MVP

While not in the same money league as Drake, Israel Adesanya also had a decent payout from the Super Bowl.

With a $20,923.52 bet, he selected Patrick Mahomes to be named the game’s MVP (Most Valuable Player). This player is superhuman at times, and he usually turns up in the Big Game, so this was a savvy wager.

Of course, he needed Mahomes to step up with the final drive while trailing in overtime with the clock ticking down. Having scrabbled for an important 1st down on this drive, there was no other player who was going to win this award once the final pass was caught. At odds of 2.20, Izzy pocketed $46,031.75.
