PSG have the semi-finals of the Champions League within reach after an impressive 3-1 win over Villa last week.

Aston Villa have been enjoying an exceptional Champions League campaign, but they look like they will go no further than the quarter-finals in 2025. 

Their 3-1 loss to PSG saw Villa take the lead in France, but they were pegged back before eventually seeing the deficit widened to two goals. The third goal was a real sucker punch as Villa conceded in the 92nd minute. 

While I back Villa to score, which is something they have done in their last four European games, I cannot see them beating arguably the strongest side still in the competition

PSG have been continually improving in Europe this season, and they will be the pick of many to go all the way and secure the trophy in 2025. 

Despite going 1-0 down against the run of play in the first-leg, PSG did not panic. They were patient and carried on playing their game. This paid dividends as they scored three times to ensure they come to Villa Park in complete control of the tie. 

An early goal for the visitors will likely kill this tie off as a contest. Villa know they will have to go big in this one, and this will leave gaps in behind. I back PSG to concede for the third time in their last four in Europe, but I do not see them losing. 

Verdict

I am backing PSG to secure victory and their place in the Champions League semi-finals despite a valiant effort from the home team.
