Chelsea vs Manchester United Preview & Tips

Chelsea were unable to throw any real punches in their clash with Newcastle as they slipped to a pitiful 2-0 loss at the hands of the Magpies.

Manchester Untied were awful in their last outing as they lost 2-0 to West Ham to see their horrendous league campaign extended.

  • Chelsea have won three of their last four league games (L1)
  • Manchester United have lost three of their last four on the road (D1)
  • The pair have both scored in their last seven meetings

Head To Head

Chelsea have won two of their last 10 against United, with the latter winning twice and six games ending as draws.

Chelsea Form

Despite their inconsistencies across the season, Chelsea are still in with a chance of securing a top five place and a spot in the Champions League for next season.

The Blues have won 18 of their 36 matches, while they have secured wins in three of their last four. However, their 2-0 loss to Newcastle in their last outing saw them lose ground on the Magpies, while it means Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest edged closer to them in the table.

Despite their struggles against United in recent years, Chelsea are in far better form than their opponents, while they actually have something to play for. I do not see the Blues keeping a clean sheet, but I do back them to come away with all three points.

Manchester United Form

As far as the Premier League goes, Manchester United and their fans will be desperate to see the 2024/25 iteration of the competition end after a woeful campaign.

While they have a Europa League final against Tottenham to look forward to, this has done little to mask their inadequacies this term. 42 goals scored is a pathetic total, while they have conceded 53 times as their backline is continually breached.

I do back them to score against Chelsea in this one, but I cannot see the side that currently sits in 16th in the league winning this match.

Verdict

I am backing Chelsea to take all three points from this one as they secure the win despite failing to keep a clean sheet.
