Tottenham need to be at their best for the second-leg against Eintracht Frankfurt after failing to make the most out of home advantage in the first-leg.
- The Germans have won their last four European home games
- Tottenham have lost two of their last four on the road in the competition
- The last two meetings between the sides have seen both teams score
Head To Head
There have been two draws in three meetings between the sides, with Tottenham winning once in London.
Eintracht Frankfurt Form
Eintracht Frankfurt were able to come away from London with a deserved draw after matching Tottenham all the way in their quarter-final first-leg.
The German side deservedly took the lead before battling to a 1-1 draw. A positive result in the first-leg was always going to put Eintracht Frankfurt in the ascendancy heading into the second-leg, and they can now build on home advantage in the second-leg.
Frankfurt have not been great at keeping clean sheets of late, conceding in their last four in Europe. While I back the home side to win this one, I believe they will fail to keep a clean sheet.
Tottenham Form
Tottenham have struggled recently, with the English side winning just two of their last nine in all competitions, drawing twice and losing the other five.
Spurs arrive for this one needing a big result, but their 4-2 loss to lowly Wolves at the weekend saw the London side humbled. With a single win coming from their last five in all competitions, their trip to Germany comes at an awful time.
While I expect Tottenham to score in this one, I do not see them outscoring their opponents as they are eliminated from the Europa League with a whimper.
Verdict
I am backing the home side to come out on top in this one as they knock Tottenham out of Europe at the quarter-final stage.
