- Espanyol Form
- Barcelona Form
Barcelona are seven clear of Real Madrid in second, with the title now just a single win from their grasp.
- Espanyol have lost their last three league games
- Barcelona have the best away record in the league (W12, D3, L2)
- Raphinha has scored in each of his last three appearances for Barcelona
Head To Head
Barcelona have won seven of their last 10 against Espanyol, with the other three games ending as draws.
Espanyol Form
Espanyol have the chance to have a major say on the title race in midweek as they host runaway leaders Barcelona.
The home side can allow Real Madrid to drag themselves back into contention, with the gap between the top two standing at seven points. However, this would require Espanyol to arrest a run of three consecutive defeats. They would also need to beat Barcelona for the first time since 2018.
While Espanyol will have their own aspirations as they look to avoid a defeat that would see the threat of relegation still behind them, I cannot see them defeating the best team in the league.
Barcelona Form
Barcelona are a single win away from wrestling the La Liga trophy away from Real Madrid after they humbled their opponents in a gripping 4-3 win at the weekend.
They will feel they showed all of the resolve necessary to secure the silverware after coming from 2-0 behind to beat their arch-rivals. Victory over Real was their 26th win in the league, and it puts them seven clear of the reigning champions with three games and nine points left on offer.
With 12 wins, three draws and two defeats in 17 away games this season, Barca boast the best record on the road. They can also call on Raphinha, who has scored in each of his last three matches for Barca, and I back him to lead the travelling side to the title in midweek.
Verdict
I am backing Raphinha to score once again as Barcelona secure the title with a win over Espanyol.
