Fulham vs Manchester City Preview & Tips

Fulham were able to secure an impressive 3-2 win over Brentford in their last away game as they ended a run of two defeats on the spin.

Manchester City took a huge step to securing a Champions League spot by hammering Bournemouth 3-1 in their last match at the Etihad Stadium this term.

  • Fulham have lost two of their last three matches (W1)
  • Manchester City are unbeaten in their last nine league games (W6, D3)
  • Omar Marmoush scored for City in their 3-1 win over Bournemouth in midweek

Head To Head

City have won their last 17 consecutive matches against Fulham in a dominant run of results against their opponents.

Fulham Form

Fulham have enjoyed a strong showing this season, with the club securing 54 points, meaning they have secured more than double the points of Leicester (25) in 18th.

Their 3-2 win over Brentford saw Fulham come from 2-1 down to secure all three points, with this seeing the latter move to within a point of the former in ninth. Victory in this one could see them finish as high as ninth, while defeat may see them slip down to 12th.

While placement will matter to Fulham, I do not see this being enough of a reason to allow them to beat City. The travelling side are still in need of a win to see them finish in the Champions League spots, and I back Fulham’s awful run against City to continue.

Manchester City Form

Manchester City put their FA Cup final heartbreak behind them as they easily beat Bournemouth 3-1 to put them in the driving seat to finish in third in the league.

Victory means they are three points behind Arsenal in second but, more importantly, they are two points clear of Newcastle, Chelsea and Aston Villa in fourth, fifth and sixth respectively. A point in this one would likely be enough to see them finish in the top five, securing them a Champions League spot.

While City have not been perfect on the road with seven wins in their 18 away games, they have notched 17 consecutive wins against Fulham in a dominant run. Omar Marmoush scored a stunning goal in City’s last outing and he looks in great touch heading into the final game. I back him to add to his seven league goals this season in City’s final match.

Verdict

I am backing City to win their final game of the season as Omar Marmoush makes it goals in consecutive matches.
