Gujarat Titans were denied victory in a big-scoring clash against Punjab Kings as they lost by 11 runs in their opening game.

Mumbai Indians were swatted aside by Chennai Super Kings in their first game as they lost by four-wickets.

Gujarat Titans slipped to an 11-run loss at the hands of Punjab Kings in a thrilling IPL match that saw almost 500 runs scored.

Ultimately, GT’s lineup struggled across the park against their opponents. GT’s bowlers were smashed to all corners of the park, with the usually miserly Rashid Khan taking particular treatment as he was smashed for 1/48.

The wicket of Jos Buttler ultimately spelled the end for GT as he chopped onto his own stumps for 54. The English batsman had started to look like he would click into gear, but his dismissal with a few overs left saw GT beaten.

With a half-century to his name in his opening appearance for GT, I am backing Buttler to top score for his side as they secure their first win of the new season.

Mumbai Indians Form

It was a match for forget for Mumbai Indians as their opening game of the season saw them well-beaten by Chennai Super Kings.

The battle of 2024’s underachievers was always going to be important, but MI could not take advantage of the chance to start the season with a win. Their score of 155/9 always seemed underwhelming, and CSK proved it was not enough, cantering to their target with four wickets to spare.

MI have now lost seven of their last eight, while they have been beaten in their last two matches against GT. Unfortunately for the travelling side, I predict a defeat in this one.
