Monaco vs Fenerbahce Final Game Preview

After nearly seven months of thrilling games, highlight plays, ups and downs, the EuroLeague season comes down to one final showdown.

Can Fenerbahce capture their second title, or will Monaco make history by winning it all in their very first final appearance?

Monaco Form & Team News

Monaco arrived at this Final Four in Abu Dhabi as slight underdogs. Throughout the season, they didn’t always look like a team capable of going the distance—mainly due to inconsistency.

But things took a positive turn with the arrival of Vassilis Spanoulis on the bench and the late-season addition of NBA big man Daniel Theis.

Yesterday, in the semifinal, they delivered a masterclass against heavily favored Olympiacos and fully earned their place in the final—the first in the club’s history.

Much-criticized Mike James stepped up like a true leader, finishing with a game-high efficiency rating of 29 (17 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists). He played with great composure, scoring when needed and deferring to teammates when they had the hot hand.

Alpha Diallo once again shined—just like he did against Barcelona—with 22 points, while Mam Jaiteh played the role of unsung hero, completely outplaying Olympiacos’ frontcourt.

If Monaco can replicate the kind of defensive intensity they showed in the semifinal, their chances of upsetting Fenerbahce and lifting the trophy increase dramatically.

Fenerbahce Form & Team News

Fenerbahce played almost a perfect game against Panathinaikos — exactly what they needed to beat such a strong team.

As often happens at the Final Four, one unexpected player stepped up. This time, it was Devon Hall. He averaged less than 8 points per game this season, but yesterday he scored 18 points, including four three-pointers, and was the best player on the court.

Tarik Biberovic once again showed why he’s seen as one of the best shooters in Europe, finishing with 15 points. Veteran Errick McCollum hit big shots in key moments, just when the team needed him most.

Nicolo Melli and Khem Birch did a great job under the basket, especially in defense, where they stopped the opponent’s pick-and-roll plays with smart switching.

Fenerbahce’s top player, Nigel Hayes-Davis, scored only 7 points in 35 minutes, but he didn’t try to force things. Since the other team focused on stopping him, he smartly passed the ball and let his teammates take over.

Head to Head

Monaco won both of their matchups against Fenerbahce this season. They were especially dominant in the first game played in Istanbul, which ended in a convincing 99–69 victory.

Verdict

Sarunas Jasikevicius has plenty of Final Four experience, but he's still chasing his first EuroLeague title as a head coach.

His teams have often looked tense on this stage, and it was clear how relieved he was after the final buzzer in the semifinal.

Fenerbahce won’t have an easy task against a very physical Monaco side, but it feels like the time has come for Jasikevicius to finally complete the circle and become just the fourth person to win this trophy both as a player and a coach.
