After blowing out their opponents in Game 3, the expectation was that the defending champions would take care of business again, beating the Knicks and reclaiming both stolen home-court games.

The Celtics came out firing from deep and jumped out to a double-digit lead within minutes. But this time, the Knicks had a response. They quickly leveled the score, only for the visitors—led by a red-hot Jayson Tatum—to go on another big run and take an 11-point lead into the first break, a margin that held through halftime.

Tatum kept hitting at a high clip in the second half, and it seemed like the Celtics were on the verge of breaking the game open. But the Knicks, energized by their home crowd, didn’t back down. Midway through the fourth quarter, the hosts grabbed the lead and never looked back.

The moment that could define this series—and possibly reshape Boston's future—came with just under three minutes left and the score at 111–104. In a scramble for a loose ball, Jayson Tatum went down clutching his leg. While there’s no official update yet, early signs suggest one of the two worst injuries in basketball: a torn Achilles.

If the worst-case scenario is confirmed, the Celtics could be looking at a dramatically different roster next season.

Unlike the previous game—when the Knicks had no answer for their opponent’s aggressive play and three-point shooting—this time, Tom Thibodeau’s team came prepared.

All five New York starters delivered strong performances, which was a key requirement for competing on equal footing with the reigning champions. Off the bench, Deuce McBride and Mitchell Robinson also stepped up with valuable contributions.

Jalen Brunson (39 points, 12 assists) matched Jayson Tatum blow for blow and took control when it mattered most. He was well-supported offensively by Mikal Bridges (23 points), Anthony Towns (23 points), who dealt with foul trouble, and OG Anunoby (20 points).

As usual, Josh Hart and Mitchell Robinson brought relentless energy on the defensive end.
