Real Madrid's title defence is on the brink of failure after they were beaten 4-3 by leaders Barcelona in an epic clash.

Mallorca beat Valladolid 2-1 at the weekend to ensure they come into this one on the back of a win.

Real Madrid have won seven of their last 10 against Mallorca, with the latter winning twice and one game ending as a draw.

Real Madrid are on the verge of having to give the La Liga trophy to Barcelona after their stunning 4-3 loss to the leaders.

Despite going 2-0 up in the match, Real crumbled under the pressure as they succumbed to a defeat that could see Barcelona win the title in midweek. A win for Barca would keep them seven points clear with two games and six points left to come.

While Real's challenge is all but over, they have to keep winning matches if they are to apply any kind of pressure. Real have made a point of winning by a one-goal margin of late, and I back them to continue this trend.

Mallorca Form

Mallorca have enjoyed a good season, with the side still in with a chance of securing European football for next season.

Their exploits on the road have yielded a total of 20 points, with six wins and two draws coming alongside nine defeats. While their form away from home has yielded more points than half the other sides in the league, they will struggle to take on one of the best sides in the league away from home.

While the lure of European football will be strong, I do not predict that Mallorca will be able to defeat Real. The travelling side have lost seven of their last 10 against their opponents, and I back them to slip to another defeat in midweek.
