Dallas Mavericks at Sacramento Kings Preview

Teams are battling through the Play-In for the final few Playoff spots. Higher-seeded squads will get two chances to advance, while teams like the Mavericks and Kings will need to win twice.

Can the Kings take advantage of their home court against the Mavericks and earn a shot at the Grizzlies or Warriors in the next round?

Sacramento Kings Form & Team News

The Kings have had their ups and downs this season, but they managed to secure the 9th seed with a 40-42 record and keep their Playoff hopes alive.

The season featured plenty of roster changes, including the departure of star guard De’Aaron Fox and the arrival of Zach LaVine, whose performances have fluctuated throughout the year.

Domantas Sabonis, averaging 19 points per game, and DeMar DeRozan with 22 points, lead the offensive charge, supported by LaVine who also puts up 22 per game.

However, Sacramento will be without Malik Monk in this matchup due to a calf injury — a potentially big blow, as he’s been a key contributor off the bench.

Dallas Mavericks Form & Team News

Few teams went through as many drastic roster changes this season as the Dallas Mavericks. The squad looks completely different compared to how it started the year.

The biggest shock came with Luka Doncic’s stunning move to the LA Lakers, while Anthony Davis went the other way to join Dallas. The USA national team center struggled with injuries early on but has since recovered and found his rhythm.

Davis may have been one of the key reasons the Mavericks managed to hold on to the 10th seed in the Western Conference, thanks to some clutch wins down the stretch.

Kyrie Irving is out for the season with a serious injury, while Klay Thompson is currently listed as questionable for this matchup.

Head to Head

During the regular season, these two teams faced off three times — and interestingly, the Kings came out on top in all three matchups. The most recent win was a dominant 122-98 victory on the road.

Verdict

The Mavericks may have improved their presence in the paint, but realistically, they’re likely to struggle on the perimeter against a Kings team that can push the pace and thrive in a fast, high-energy game.

I expect the Sacramento Kings to defend their home court and earn a shot in the decisive game for a spot in the Playoffs.
