Everton vs Manchester City Preview & Tips

Everton are looking to take more points from top five opposition after drawing with Arsenal and beating Nottingham Forest in their last two matches.

Manchester City battled to a 5-2 win over Crystal Palace in their last league game as they came from 2-0 down to beat their opponents.

  • Everton are unbeaten in their last two (D1, W1)
  • The Toffees have drawn their last four at home
  • City have drawn two of their last four in the league

Head To Head

City have won eight of their last 10 against Everton, with the other two ending as draws.

Everton Form

Everton were outstanding at the weekend as they secured a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest to move above both Tottenham and Manchester United in the table.

The Toffees are now unbeaten in their last two, with the side now 17 points clear of the relegation zone. After a torrid start to the season, Everton have been impressive, with the club incredibly tough to beat.

While Everton have not been great against City, they have only lost four of their 16 at home. In this time, they have won four times and drawn the other eight. With four draws in their last four home games, I am backing the Toffees to notch another impressive result.

Manchester City Form

Manchester City’s 5-2 win over Crystal Palace may have seen the former champions eventually swat their opponents aside, but they were not good enough early in the game.

Indeed, City were 2-0 down after just 21 minutes, with their top-four hopes unravelling. Kevin De Bruyne began the comeback as the home team scored five unanswered goals, but the cracks in the side were clear for all to see.

Six wins on the road in 16 matches is not like Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s men have been far too beatable on the road, and I back them to struggle to break down a very stubborn opponent. With Arsenal and Forest dropping points against Everton in the last few weeks, I believe a point at Goodison Park is a positive result for City.

Verdict

I am backing Pep Guardiola’s men to come away with a point as Everton have another say in the top-four race.
