Stake Bettor Wins $143,856 on Vitality vs The MongolZ

The bet on Stake Sportsbook backed Vitality at -6.5 rounds on Map 1 against The MongolZ at PGL Masters Bucharest 2026.

Vitality won Inferno 13-6. That seven-round margin is the exact minimum the ticket needed, and it only got there on the final round of the map.

Had The MongolZ nicked one more round, the slip would have gone in the bin. Instead, it paid out at 4.80, for $113,886.11 in winnings (after deducting the initial stake).

The ticket was a single bet on the Map 1 round handicap, including overtime rounds. Here's everything the slip shows.

Odds of 4.80 put the implied chance at about 21%, so the market saw this as roughly a one-in-five shot. The slip shows the match started at 8:45 PM, so the bet went in 27 minutes after that.

That gap suggests it was placed live, though the slip doesn't show the score at that moment. Keep that in mind for what happened next.

Map 1 was The MongolZ's own pick, and early on it looked like a smart one. They raced to a 5-0 lead, capped by a 1v2 clutch from 910 in round five.

At that point, a seven-round Vitality win looked a long way off. If the bet went in during that hole, it was a seriously brave read. Then ZywOo took over. He dropped back-to-back four-kill rounds on the A and B site defences in rounds six and seven, and Vitality never looked back. They reeled off ten rounds in a row, took the half 7-5 and pushed on to 10-5 after the switch.

This is where it got nervy. The MongolZ grabbed their only CT round of the map to make it 10-6, and suddenly the handicap was on a knife edge.

From there, Vitality had to win three straight rounds without dropping another. One slip and a 13-7 finish would have lost the bet by half a round. They didn't slip, closing it out 13-6 for exactly the margin the ticket needed.

ZywOo finished Inferno 19-9 with a 1.91 rating, while mezii chipped in a tidy 15-7. For The MongolZ, only nin9 and 910 managed a rating above 1.00.

Cache, Vitality's pick, was never close. The MongolZ won the first two rounds, then Vitality took nine of the next ten to lead 9-3 at the half.

ZywOo's USP-S quad won the second pistol, and Vitality ran out 13-3 without dropping a CT round. flameZ was the star of the map with 22 kills, seven deaths and a 2.58 rating.

Here's how the series broke down. Mirage, the decider, wasn't needed.

ZywOo was named Player of the Match with a 1.98 rating across both maps, just ahead of flameZ on 1.95. That's even more impressive given Vitality are playing without their captain.

apEX is on paternity leave, so jL is standing in, and mezii has taken on the in-game leadership. The win stretched Vitality's run to 10 straight series wins. It was also their fifth straight series win over The MongolZ. The Mongolian side hasn't beaten them since the Esports World Cup in August 2025.

PGL Masters Bucharest runs from October 24 to 31 with a $1,250,000 prize pool. Vitality now face FUT in the 2-0 pool, with a playoff spot going to the winner. The MongolZ drop to 1-1 and meet MOUZ.

A round handicap takes rounds off one team's final score before the bet is settled. At -6.5, Vitality had to win Map 1 by seven rounds or more.

So a 13-6 result wins and a 13-7 result loses. The half-round rules out a push, and because overtime was included, any extra rounds would have counted too.

That's why the price was so high. Vitality came in ranked second in the world by HLTV, with The MongolZ down in 20th, so a straight Map 1 win would likely have paid far less. The handicap trades that safety for value. You need the favourite to win big, not just win, and Sunday showed how thin that line can be.

This win has a nice twist. Stake has been Vitality's official betting partner since July 2025, so the bettor cashed in on the team wearing Stake's logo.
