The Stake Stars and Summits Trophy is a bilateral international Twenty20 cricket series that will take place between the USA and Nepal.

There will be three matches, all of which are at the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Texas. The scheduled dates are:

Match 1

Having won the toss, USA cricket team elected to field. In retrospect, this looks like it may have been an error.

Nepal’s opening batsmen, Anil Sah and Aasif Sheikh, got off to a confident start, with the pair putting on 48 in 5.3 overs before the fall of the first wicket (Sah). Although disappointed to get out LBW, Sah left the field with 27 runs to his name and a strike rate of 150.00.

Team USA did well in taking wickets, which restricted Nepal to 93 for 4 after 12.3 overs. However, Captain Rohit Paudel and Dipendra Singh Airee put on 66 for the fifth wicket, swinging the momentum back to Nepal, who finished on 164/9, with Paudel top scoring on 49.

With the ball in hand, Nepal ripped through the USA’s openers, leaving them at 8 for 2 after 2.1 overs. Despite a valiant 60 not out by Shayan Jahangir, USA Cricket never threatened in this run chase. Nepal kept them to 147 for 7 from their 20 overs and took a 1 - 0 lead in the series.

Match 2

The second game of this three-match series ended in a draw, with both teams notching up 170 runs from their 20 overs. Nepal’s innings was built around Kushal Bhurtel, who finished on 92 not out with a strike rate of 170.37.

Team USA recovered from losing their first wicket with only 4 runs on the board to put on 90+ runs before another wicket fell. Saiteja Mukkamalla hit 47 from 41 balls, and Andries Gous top-scored for the USA with an impressive 62.

With their partnership, USA had the edge, but Nepal kept their bowling tight to bring them back in. USA Cricket needed two runs from the final ball, but they only managed a single to leave the match tied.

Match 3

After an improving performance in the second match, Team USA headed into the last game in this series with high hopes. They batted first, which is something they hadn’t done in the other two games.

Opener Saiteja Mukkamalla scored a decent 68 from 51 balls and Milind Kumar hit 43 not out from 35 balls. However, the next highest score was 13, and Nepal did well with the ball to always keep the run rate under control. USA Cricket finished on 156 for 5, which was at least 20 runs fewer than what they would have hoped for.

Not chasing the biggest target, Nepal batted with an air of freedom. Opening batter Sah was out for 13, but his partner, Aasif Sheikh, hit a delightful 50 from 39, setting the foundation for the run chase. Bhurtel 40 not out and Malla 44 not out knocked off the other runs as Nepal reached their target with eight balls to spare.
