Fenerbahce pulled off a crucial break in Game 3 and now hold a 3-1 lead in the finals against Besiktas.

Trailing for most of the contest, the hosts stayed competitive thanks to a superb display from Jonah Mathews, who kept the scoreboard ticking and the pressure alive.

Several times in the closing minutes, the deficit shrank to just one possession, yet the decisive blow never came.

Mathews continued his outstanding postseason run, dropping 26 points on 11-of-17 shooting in another high-impact outing.

Conor Morgan stepped up with 15 points, while Kyle Allman added 10 to round out the main scoring contributions.

This loss was only the third at home in the Turkish league this season for Besiktas, who now face the daunting task of winning three straight to capture the title — a near-impossible mission at this stage.

This will be the eighth meeting between Fenerbahce and Besiktas this season, and very likely the last. The current head-to-head record stands at 5-2 in favor of Fenerbahce.

Verdict

Turkey Super Lig: Fenerbahce v Besiktas

Everything is set for a celebration on Istanbul’s Asian side, and it’s hard to imagine Fenerbahce letting this chance slip away.

Besiktas had their opportunity to even the series at home but failed to seize it, leaving them with an almost impossible task ahead.
