Real Madrid vs Paris Preview

Just 12 days after their last clash, Real Madrid and Paris will face off once again — this time at the Movistar Arena.

The winner of this matchup will move straight into the EuroLeague quarterfinals to take on Fenerbahce, while the loser will get one more shot at making the Playoffs against the winner of Bayern vs Crvena Zvezda.

Real Madrid Form & Team News

At the start of the season, few would’ve predicted that Real Madrid would finish the EuroLeague regular season in 7th place and have to go through the Play-In — but that’s exactly where they find themselves now.

It could’ve been even worse if they hadn’t significantly raised their level late in the season, closing with six straight wins.

Some of those victories, like the ones in Belgrade against Crvena Zvezda and Partizan, came after serious battles, and the one against Paris — just two rounds before the end — was no different.

The EuroLeague newcomers held a double-digit lead for much of the game, but Real used their experience and individual talent — namely Mario Hezonja and Dzanan Musa — to flip the script and grab a crucial win.

The final regular season clash with Partizan followed a similar pattern, with Los Blancos erasing a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter and sealing the victory with a buzzer-beater from Edy Tavares, securing a more favorable spot in the Play-In.

Paris Form & Team News

Paris can be more than proud of how they’ve handled their debut EuroLeague season.

Even the club’s most optimistic fans probably didn’t expect them to be in a position to have two chances at reaching the quarterfinals.

They secured 8th place in the standings with a confident 72–63 home win over Alba Berlin in the final round. While their offense wasn’t firing on all cylinders, the visitors’ lack of scoring threat allowed Paris to control the game down the stretch despite shooting below their usual standards.

Star guard and MVP frontrunner T.J. Shorts had a quiet night with 10 points and 7 assists, but the slack was picked up by Nadir Hifi and Mikael Jantunen, who both chipped in 15 points.

Coming into this matchup, Paris are in high spirits — especially after a huge 98–91 road win in Bourg that served as the perfect warm-up for another battle with Real Madrid.

Head to Head

These two teams played an ultra-thrilling game at this very venue just under two weeks ago, with Real Madrid narrowly coming out on top, 105–104.

What stood out in that matchup was Paris’ incredible three-point shooting — they knocked down 19 of 34 attempts, an impressive 56% from beyond the arc.

Verdict

Even though I personally wouldn’t be surprised to see Paris put up another competitive fight in Madrid, I believe the home team’s quality and experience will ultimately make the difference.

Real Madrid have hit top form at just the right time in the season, and that should be enough for them to ruthlessly expose all of Paris’ shortcomings and book a quarterfinal series against Fenerbahce.
