  • A $4,006.41 stake on a 6-leg multi at 74.58 odds paid out $298,797.87.
  • Away wins for Bournemouth (3.00) and Real Madrid (4.40) did most of the heavy lifting.
  • Mbappé’s late Clásico winner and a Monday night PSG win sealed it.
A bettor on Stake just turned $4,006.41 into $298,797.87 with a six-leg soccer multi at 74.58 odds. Stake posted the slip on X, and it's one of the gutsiest bets we've seen in a while.

The bet, spanning Europe's top five leagues, included some extremely bold picks most customers wouldn't have touched. It all came to a climax Monday night, as the slip's owner had to wait for PSG's result before claiming his spoils.

How the Bet was Won

The bet went on early on Sunday, October 25, a couple of hours before Manchester United kicked off against Bournemouth.

Leg 1: Bournemouth to Beat Manchester United (3.00)

Opening a $4K multi with Bournemouth away at Old Trafford is a statement. At 3.00 they were the outsiders, though you'd never have guessed it.

Rayan volleyed in a Justin Kluivert free-kick at the back post on 38 minutes. Just before the break, a Leny Yoro error let Marcus Tavernier double the lead. Evanilson added a third midway through the second half. That's now three 3-0 wins for Bournemouth at Old Trafford in recent seasons, and Michael Carrick's seat is getting hotter.

Leg 2: Bayern Munich to Win at Freiburg (1.47)

Bayern travelled without Vincent Kompany, who was taken to hospital after collapsing at the training ground. Assistant Aaron Danks ran the show from the touchline. Dayot Upamecano, of all people, opened the scoring with a superb solo goal 16 minutes in. Serge Gnabry made it two before the break, and it was his 100th Bundesliga goal.

Things got twitchy with eight minutes left, when Bayern midfielder Tom Bischof turned the ball into his own net. Michael Olise killed the drama in stoppage time to make it 3-1.

Leg 3: Real Sociedad to Beat Levante (1.55)

Orri Óskarsson struck after six minutes, and this looked like the easy leg. Then Nacho Pérez equalised for Levante midway through the first half.

Beñat Turrientes restored the lead five minutes later. Nobody found the net again, which meant over an hour of nervy clock-watching.

Leg 4: AC Milan to Win at Udinese (1.81)

Ruben Amorim's Milan arrived in Udine after losing to Bournemouth in the Europa League. Yes, the same Bournemouth that had already landed leg one.

Christian Pulisic finished a Luka Modrić pass early on. Just after the hour, Omari Hutchinson followed up a saved Ardon Jashari shot for his first Milan goal. Milan won 2-0 and stayed unbeaten in Serie A. This one kicked off just 15 minutes ahead of El Clásico, so the two games played out side by side.

Leg 5: Real Madrid to Win El Clásico (4.40)

Barcelona had won all nine league games and sat six points clear at the top. Picking Madrid to win at Camp Nou at 4.40 was the biggest risk on the ticket.

Kylian Mbappé put José Mourinho's side ahead in the 41st minute. Barcelona levelled, and with the clock ticking down at 1-1, the whole bet was in real trouble. With three minutes left, Eduardo Camavinga skipped past Pau Cubarsí and cut the ball back. Mbappé rolled it into an empty net, and somewhere a Stake customer likely lost their mind.

Like Gnabry earlier in the day, this was Mbappé's 100th Madrid goal. It also handed Barcelona their first league defeat of the season.

Leg 6: PSG to Beat Lyon (1.37)

Five down, one to go. The only problem was that PSG vs Lyon had been moved to Monday night. That's nearly a full day of staring at a ticket worth almost $300K. Lyon dug in, and the first half ended goalless.

Luis Enrique went to his bench, and it won him the game. Substitute Senny Mayulu struck on 72, and fellow sub Mika Godts sealed it on 84. Six from six.

What Made It Work

A lot of big multis lean on short-priced favourites. This one was carried by two underdogs, and four of the six winners were playing away from home.

Bournemouth at 3.00 and Real Madrid at 4.40 multiply out to 13.20 on their own. The other four legs together came to roughly 5.65.

Going by the odds, this multi had about a 1.3% chance of landing, or roughly one in 75. All six winners also scored first, so none of them needed to come from behind.

The catch with multis is simple. Every leg has to win, and one draw or one late goal sinks the lot. Most multis lose, even well-researched ones, so treat them as long shots and keep stakes small. If that feels too brutal, look at Stake Shield. It lets you protect a multi of three or more legs against a losing leg, in exchange for reduced odds.
