Aryna Sabalenka vs Iga Swiatek Preview & Tips

Aryna Sabalenka was too strong for Qinwen Zheng in the last round as she eased to an impressive 7-6 6-3 win over her opponent.

Iga Swiatek made light work of Elina Svitolina in the quarter-finals as she also enjoyed a straight sets win to move into the semi-finals.

Head To Head

The two stars have met 12 times in total, with Swiatek winning eight games and Sabalenka winning four matches. Six of their games have been played on clay, with Swiatek winning five of these meetings.

Aryna Sabalenka Form

Aryna Sabalenka has been in scintillating form across the French Open in 2025, and she is yet to drop a set after her opening five matches.

Her 7-6 6-3 win over Qinwen Zheng was particularly impressive as she had lost to the same opponent in the same round of the Italian Open in mid-May. While some players would have had the demons of this defeat hanging over them, Sabalenka looked untroubled as she eliminated her opponent.

Despite Sabalenka's excellent form so far, she comes up against arguably the best clay court player in the women's game. Eight defeats in 12 meetings is a poor record, while she has lost five of their six matches on clay courts. While I predict a tight match in which Sabalenka has her moments, I do not back her to win this game and move into the French Open final.

Iga Swiatek Form

Iga Swiatek was earmarked as the potential winner of the French Open before the tournament had begun, and she has so far proved those that backed her right.

With the exception of a 2-1 win over Elena Rybakina in the fourth round, Swiatek has looked relatively untroubled by any of her opponents. It is not difficult to see why she has won 148 of her 169 matches on clay across her professional career.

While Sabalenka will likely comprise her biggest test of the tournament, I back Swiatek to pass with flying colours as she moves into the final. With eight wins in 12 meetings against her opponent, I back Swiatek to notch her ninth victory over Sabalenka this week.

Verdict

I am backing Ig Swiatek to secure a 2-1 win as she ends Sabalenka's hopes of winning the French Open in 2025.
