Besiktas vs Fenerbahce Game 3 Preview

After another home win (84:76), Fenerbahce are now one step closer to defending their Turkish league title.

Can Besiktas cut the deficit, or will the visitors steal a crucial win and take a nearly uncatchable lead in the series?

Besiktas Form & Team News

Besiktas put up a more competitive fight in Game 2 of the finals compared to the series opener, but once again, they were never really close to winning.

From the opening tip, they found themselves trailing and couldn’t recover, despite a strong push late in the game to make things interesting.

Midway through the third quarter, Besiktas were down by as many as 19 points, but coach Dusan Alimpijevic’s team kept fighting until the final buzzer.

With just 100 seconds left, they managed to cut the deficit to just five, but that was as close as they got.

Once again, the first quarter proved crucial—they lost it 28–18—and if they hope to turn things around in the series, a more focused and energetic start will be essential.

Jonah Mathews led the team in scoring once again with 20 points, but aside from Berk Ugurlu (14 pts) and to some extent Emanuel Terry (10 pts), he lacked real support.

Fenerbahce Form & Team News

With another convincing win, Fenerbahce continue their charge toward a historic treble—something the club has never achieved in its rich history.

Coach Sarunas Jasikevicius has every reason to be pleased with how his team has looked in the first two games of the finals.

So far, they’ve managed to win without major contributions from their top stars like Nigel Hayes-Davis, Marko Guduric, and Wade Baldwin.

Just like in Game 1, the standout performance came from an unexpected source—Khem Birch. The veteran center, who has dealt with his share of injuries in the past, once again dominated Besiktas’ frontcourt.

The Canadian big man scored 18 points without missing a single shot from the field, all in just 20 minutes of play, while also locking down the paint on defense.

Captain Melih Mahmutoglu also stepped up with 15 points, while Devon Hall and Nicolo Melli both finished in double figures.

Head to Head

After these two finals wins, Fenerbahce now lead the season series against Besiktas 4–1. However, Besiktas did win the only game played on their home court so far, coming out on top with a 72–62 victory.

Verdict

The entire Besiktas squad needs to be at their best to stand a chance against a well-oiled machine like Fenerbahce.

In the first two games, Kyle Allman, Dustin Sleva, and Conor Morgan lacked impact, but with fantastic support from the stands, they could have a great shooting night.

Besiktas has been strong at home this season, and I believe they can at least stir things up in this game.
