England vs West Indies 2nd T20 Preview & Tips

England were superb with bat and ball in the first T20 as they beat the West Indies by 21 runs to make it four consecutive wins over their opponents.

The West Indies need something big to end their disappointing run as they left their batsmen too much to do against their hosts.

Head To Head

England have won seven of their last 10 T20's against the West Indies, with the latter winning the other three.

England Form

England notched a very competitive 188/6 in the first T20 against the West Indies as Jos Buttler made a timely return to form with a stunning 96 from 59. He fell agonisingly close to a century, but six 4's and four 6's saw the boundaries flowing.

With the ball, Liam Dawson was superb, taking 4/20 as he tore through the Windies. This win in the first T20 was their fourth consecutive win against the West Indies, with England looking more like the limited overs side their fans have become used to seeing.

Buttler was scintillating in the first T20, and in that sort of form he is near impossible to stop. I back him to continue his excellent form with the bat in the T20 format by smashing the opposition to all parts of the ground. I back him to score a fifty at least in this one.

West Indies Form

The West Indies have not been good enough across their tour of England, with the batters and bowlers unable to keep up with England's all action style of play.

Evin Lewis (39 from 23) got the travelling side off to a good start, but only one other batsman was able to score 20 or more runs as the touring side could only notch 167/9 in their 20 overs. With the ball, the Windies also struggled, with the home side particularly enjoying Andre Russell's two over spell, which went for 25 runs at 12.50 per over.

The Windies have to be a lot better with bat and ball in the second T20 or they will once again concede the series with a game still to come.  However, their four defeats have come on the back of hugely underwhelming performances, and I predict that this trend will continue in the second T20.

Verdict

I am backing Buttler to score yet another half-century as England secure the T20 series with a game to play.
