Germany vs Portugal Preview & Tips - Germany tipped to secure Nations League final spot

Portugal came from 1-0 down in the first-leg against Denmark as they beat their opponents 5-2 after extra-time at home. 

Germany have won six of their last 10 against Portugal, with the latter winning twice and two games ending as draws.

Germany arrive for their Nations League semi-final on the back of a 5-4 aggregate win over Italy that saw the Germans build on a hugely impressive 2-1 win in Italy. 

They now take on a Portugal side that they have beaten in their last five meetings, with a 4-2 triumph at Euro 2020 the last time the pair met on the pitch. 

Their clash at the Allianz Arena constitutes a big opportunity to move into the Nations League final, where one of Spain or France lie in wait. After a lean few years for the Germans, securing the Nations League trophy would be a huge step forward, and they will fancy their chances against an opponent that they have enjoyed playing in recent years. 

Portugal showed impressive resolve in the quarter-finals as they managed to bounce back from a 1-0 loss in Denmark as they eventually beat their opponents 5-3 on aggregate. 

The Portuguese needed a late goal to force extra-time as they won 3-2 inside 90 minutes. They then pulled away from the visitors as they scored twice in extra-time to triumph 5-2 on the night.  

While I back Portugal to get a goal on the night, they have struggled against Germany, losing their last five, with their last win coming back in 2000. With this in mind, I predict another tough outing for the Portuguese.
