- Carlos Alcaraz Form
Carlos Alcaraz enjoyed a walkover against Lorenzo Musetti in the last round as the Spaniard edged closer to defending his French Open crown.
Head To Head
The pair have met 12 times in total with Alcaraz winning eight meetings and Sinner winning four times. Alcaraz leads their clay court meetings 3-1.
Jannik Sinner Form
Jannik Sinner has showed no signs of rustiness following his return to professional tennis, and he is yet to drop a single set across his run to the final.
His 6-4 7-5 7-6 win over Novak Djokovic saw Sinner secure a win that has made it 18 victories in 19 outings in 2025. Impressively, Sinner boasts 11 wins in 12 on clay this year, while he has won 96 of his clay court matches across his career, losing 39 times.
The worry for Sinner will be that he has struggled to match Alcaraz at times, especially on clay. Sinner has lost eight of his 12 matches against the Spaniard, while he has only won one of their four clay court matches. Similarly worrying is the fact he has failed to beat Alcaraz since October 2023, losing four meetings since then.
While I predict that Sinner will have his moments in this match as he takes his opponent to a fifth set, I do not back him to win this one as Alcaraz continues to rule on clay.
Carlos Alcaraz Form
Carlos Alcaraz has been excellent across the French Open in 2025, beating the likes of Ben Shelton, Tommy Paul and Lorenzo Musetti in the fourth round, quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively.
Alcaraz's quality is clear, but he has been able to take things up a level on clay, winning 162 of his 198 clay court outings. This year, he has won 21 of his 22 clay court matches in an impressive run that has seen him lose just five of his 41 matches.
Alcaraz has been strong against Sinner of late, winning his last four meetings against his opponent, and with three wins in his four clay court matches against the Italian, I back Alcaraz to notch a battling win as he secures the trophy.
Verdict
I am backing Alcaraz to secure a 3-2 win over Sinner as he defends his French Open crown in a thrilling match.
