Nottingham Forest secured what may have been a season defining win over West Ham last week as they ended their run of three without a win.

Chelsea were able to beat an out of sorts Manchester United side on Friday, with the Blues profiting from their opponents having one eye on the Europa League final in the week.

Chelsea have won six of their last 10 against Forest, with the latter winning once and three games ending as draws.

Nottingham Forest seem to have lost their momentum at the worst possible time, with the side stalling with a place in the Champions League within reach.

Prior to their match against West Ham, Forest have won one of their previous six, losing three times and drawing twice. Their 2-1 win against West Ham means Forest have won their first game since beating Tottenham on April 21, and they are still in with a chance of finishing in the top five.

Victory in this match would see Forest finish above Chelsea, while if either of Newcastle or Aston Villa drop points, Forest will finish in the top five. However, with some incredibly patchy form coupled with the pressure of the game itself, I am backing Forest to get on the scoresheet, but to fail to win.

Despite struggling for consistency at times, Chelsea find themselves sitting in the fifth and final Champions League spot with one game of the season still to come.

A draw in this match could be enough if Aston Villa are unable to win their match, but the Blues will not want to leave their place in the top five up to chance. Instead, they will hope to utilise their impressive run of winning six of their last seven in all competitions.

I back Chelsea to fail to keep a clean sheet for the second time in their last three in the league, but I back them to secure a vital win as they ensure they are playing in Europe’s elite competition next year.
