Real Madrid vs Arsenal Preview & Tips
Real Madrid will have to mount one of the great Champions League comebacks if they are to overturn a 3-0 deficit heading into the second-leg.

Arsenal have the tie in their hands after a stunning performance saw them notch a 3-0 win at the Emirates Stadium last week.
- Real have scored in six of their last eight in Europe
- Arsenal have scored in their last seven Champions League matches
- Arsenal have never lost to Real in 90 minutes (P5, W3, D2)
Head To Head
Arsenal have won three of their five against Real, with the other two ending as draws after 90 minutes.
Real Madrid Form
Real Madrid were given a major wakeup call in their last game as they were put to the sword in a 3-0 loss at the Emirates Stadium.
As good as Arsenal were, Real Madrid were also very bad. The Spanish side hit the target with just three of their nine shots as their usually clinical attack stuttered. Now, Real will have to be near-perfect to beat Arsenal well enough to take their place in the semi-finals.
Worrying for Real is that they have never beaten Arsenal inside 90 minutes. Indeed, five matches have ended in three wins for the Gunners and two draws. While I back Real to score, I do not see them winning this match, especially if they are as insipid as they were in the first-leg.
Arsenal Form
The Emirates Stadium played host to one of the great European nights last week as Arsenal humbled the reigning European champions in a stunning performance.
Declan Rice took the headlines with two incredible free-kicks, while Mikel Merino chipped in with a deft finish into the bottom corner to complete the win. Bukayo Saka marked his return to European action with a brilliant attacking performance, and I expect more of the same from the winger this week as he terrorises the home defence.
Arsenal arrive for this one with a proud record against Real. While the home side are wounded and desperate for a big performance, I believe this will play into Arsenal’s hands. Backing them to win outright on the road comes with real risk, so I am backing them in the double chance market instead.
Verdict
I am backing Arsenal to come away with a positive result from this match as a win/draw books their place in the next round as both sides fail to keep a clean sheet.
