Real Madrid vs Valencia Game 2 Preview
Will Madrid hold serve again in Game 2, or can Valencia raise their level and even the series?
Real Madrid Form & Team News
Real Madrid lived up to their role as favorites in Game 1 of the finals. It may not have been as smooth as the final score suggests, but in the end, they got the job done without much drama or stress.
The key stretch came in the last 15 minutes of the game, during which they outscored Valencia 47–27. Up to that point, Valencia had been competitive and even held a slight lead.
The unexpected hero of the night was Andrés Feliz, who came off the bench to score 18 points — most of them during that decisive run.
Several others also finished in double figures: Walter Tavares (14 pts), Facundo Campazzo (12 pts), Dzanan Musa (11 pts), and Sergio Llull (11 pts).
Of course, Edy Tavares deserves a special mention for his defensive presence — he completely shut down Valencia’s inside game and made every shot in the paint a real challenge.
Valencia Form & Team News
Valencia got off to a poor start in the finals series.
The league’s most efficient offense was completely shut down by Real Madrid’s superb team defense and the dominant presence of Edy Tavares in the paint. Real forced Valencia to rely on perimeter shooting — but that strategy fell flat this time.
They struggled badly from beyond the arc, shooting just 11-of-35, and the timing of those misses couldn’t have been worse. In the crucial moments of the final quarter, they missed all 8 of their three-point attempts.
Their top performer this season, Jean Montero, had a game to forget — hitting just 1 of his 9 shots. Brancou Badio did everything he could to spark a comeback, finishing with 20 points, but without real support from his teammates, it simply wasn’t enough to challenge a powerhouse like Real Madrid.
Head to Head
This will be the fourth meeting between Real Madrid and Valencia this season, and we're still waiting for the first road win.
Verdict
With improved shooting and a more aggressive defensive approach, I believe they’ll deliver a far more competitive game than what we saw in the series opener.
