Head To Head
Spain have won six of their last 10 against France, with the French triumphing three times and one game ending as a draw.
Spain Form
Reigning European champions Spain are looking to add the Nations League trophy to their cabinet as they continue to impress on the international stage.
A 2-2 draw with the Netherlands away from home saw Spain arrive for the second-leg of their quarter-final with the psychological advantage. However, they struggled to contain the Dutch at times, with the two sides locked at 2-2 on the night. Both sides scored in extra-time, with this sending the tie into a penalty shootout which Spain won 5-4.
This win was their fifth triumph in their last seven Nations League appearances. While still boasting a young squad, the Spanish are quickly adding big game experience to their talented team.
Lamine Yamal is proving to be a big game player for both Barcelona and Spain, and I back him to continue his fine scoring run after netting in three of his last four for Barcelona.
France Form
France were hugely relieved to secure a win over Croatia in the Nations League quarter-finals after securing a 2-0 win in the second-leg.
However, they were incredibly disappointing going forward in the first-leg as they failed to score with any of their 16 shots, while they also enjoyed 62% of the ball. Ultimately, France needed two second-half goals in the second-leg to keep their Nations League hopes alive.
The worry for France heading into this match is their inability to turn all of their possession and chances into wins. Against Spain, they will likely see a lot less of the ball than they enjoyed against Croatia. This simply means they have to be more incisive this week.
The last meeting between the pair saw Spain beat France 2-1 on their way to the Euro 2024 crown, and I predict more of the same as France lose a major match once again.
Verdict
I am backing Spain to secure yet another big victory as Lamine Yamal adds another goal to his growing tally.
