Valencia vs Real Madrid Game 3 Preview

After a narrow overtime win in Game 2, Real Madrid now stand one step away from defending their ACB League title.

Can Pedro Martinez’s squad regroup and cut the deficit, or will Real Madrid celebrate their 38th Spanish championship on the road?

Valencia Form & Team News

Valencia will be left with plenty of regrets. They came painfully close to leveling the series but will now return home trailing 2–0.

The performance was a clear step up from Game 1. This time, their three-point shooting was on point, hitting 18 of 43 attempts, and they showed much better decision-making when attacking Edi Tavares in the paint.

With under four minutes left in regulation, Valencia held a 7-point lead and had all the momentum, but even that wasn’t enough to break Real Madrid’s resistance.

To make matters worse, a few questionable calls went against them in key moments — something coach Pedro Martinez pointed out during the post-game press conference.

In overtime, Valencia simply ran out of steam, and Real Madrid made them pay with their trademark composure and experience.

Jean Montero led the way with 23 points and 8 assists, while Matt Costello added 16 and Xavi Lopez-Arostegui chipped in with 14.

Real Madrid Form & Team News

For what feels like the umpteenth time this season, Real Madrid managed to escape a tight spot and pull off a clutch win.

In the game’s decisive moments, their players showed composure, patience, and made the right decisions when it mattered most.

Facundo Campazzo, who had a relatively quiet season by his standards, stepped up when his team needed him the most.

The crafty Argentine orchestrated the offense brilliantly and finished as the standout performer with a double-double — 18 points and 11 assists.

Andres Feliz continued his strong run of form with 14 points and 7 rebounds, while Mario Hezonja added 13, Dzanan Musa chipped in with 12, and Alberto Abalde closed the night with 10 points.

Head to Head

This will be the fifth meeting between Real Madrid and Valencia, but only the second one at La Fonteta. Valencia won the first home clash by a narrow 85–84 margin.

Verdict

It was a tough and painful loss for Valencia, but there’s still reason to believe this team has more to give in the series.

They’re expected to perform even better on their home court than they did in Madrid, and if they come anywhere close to their full potential, this won’t be the final game of the series.
