Rap star Drake takes on Stake with $300,000 bet on Jannik Sinner to win the Men’s US Open.
Canadian rapper Drake is in the sports betting spotlight once again with a massive $300,000 wager on tennis world No.1 Jannick Sinner to win the US Open.

The wager comes after Sinner swept aside fellow Italian Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets in the quarter finals. Drake shared a screenshot of his ticket on social media this week, with the rapper set to collect over half a million dollars from Stake.com should Jannick Sinner retain his US Open title.

Drake Takes on Stake With Another Tennis Wager

This is not Drake’s first encounter with tennis betting or Jannick Sinner, for that matter. At last year’s US Open, he lost $210,000 by backing American Taylor Fritz to beat Sinner in the final.

Seeming to learn from his error of judgment, Drake went on to win $250,000 at this year’s Australian Open by betting on Sinner to Zverev. Despite this success, bettors still talk about the infamous ‘Drake Curse’, with many of them wary when the rapper throws his money down on a particular player or team.

Sinner's US Open Form

Jannik Sinner has been in devastating form throughout the early rounds of the 2025 US Open. The 24-year-old Italian has dropped just one set so far on his quest for a fifth Grand Slam.

Jannick Sinner US open

  • 1st Round: Facing Vit Kopriva, Sinner wasted no time getting back into the groove at Flushing Meadows. He raced to a 6-1, 6-1, 6-2 win with an impressive 82% points won on first serve.

  • 2nd Round: It was thought Alexei Popyrin, who is a top 40 player, would provide a sterner challenge for Sinner. However, he was duly dispatched in straight sets (6-3, 6-2, 6-2). Two rounds down and Sinner’s serve is yet to be broken.

  • 3rd Round: Denis Shapovalov played one of his best matches in a while, and after taking the first set (5-7), some wondered if an upset was on the cards. Sinner then upped his game to win the next three sets (6-4, 6-3, 6-3) to seal the victory.

  • 4th Round: Alexander Bublik was Sinner’s opponent in the round of 16. The world number one was in devastating form, winning 6-1, 6-1, 6-1. This win sent an emphatic message that Sinner is the man to beat.

  • Quarter Final: Jannick had no issues putting away 10th seed Lorenzo Musetti. A straight sets win 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 secured his path to another Grand Slam semi final.

  • Semi Final: Jannick Sinner plays Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime on Friday.

  • US Open Final: Should Sinner overcome Auger-Aliassime, he will play Carlos Alcaraz or Novak Djokovic in the final on Sunday.
