Jack Della Maddalena vs Islam Makhachev Prediction (UFC 322)

The main event features the Aussie assassin vs the Dagestani grappler. Makhachev is the gold standard in top control, positional suffocation, and fight IQ. He’s essentially evolved into a Khabib 2.0, with sharper striking and more composure under fire.

But this isn’t your typical wrestler-vs-striker matchup. Jack Della Maddalena isn’t just a good boxer, he’s a range-reading, pocket-punishing pressure machine with real knockout power.

What makes this dangerous for Islam isn’t just Jack’s hands; it’s his ability to keep pressure consistent while stuffing early takedowns. He showed this when he took the title from Belal Muhammad in his last visit to the octagon.

Another factor that is in Maddalena’s favor is that he’s a natural welterweight. This is Islam’s first outing in this weight class since he vacated his lightweight strap. While lots of fighters move around weight classes and have success, it’s usually a 10lb jump, from featherweight (145lb) to lightweight (155lb), for instance. However, the jump from lightweight (155lb) to welterweight (175lb) is 20 pounds. Islam simply is not used to the increased strength and power of these bigger guys.

Prediction: Della Maddalena by second-round TKO.

I think the bookmakers have got this massively wrong. The current prices on Stake.com have Makhachev all the way down at 1.39 (European decimal) while the champ, JDM, is at 3.10. Clearly, the pricing is based on Islam’s hype, but I’m not buying it. Jack is tremendous value, and I’m all for it.

Valentina Shevchenko vs. Weili Zhang Prediction

Shevchenko is the cleaner technician. Everyone knows that. But here’s the problem: she’s also been slowing down. Her last few fights showed moments of hesitancy, and against someone like Zhang, who thrives on quick flurries, momentum swings, and chaos, that’s a crack in the armor.

Weili Zhang isn’t going to stand at range and respect the dance. She’s going to blitz, clinch, throw unorthodox combos, and force scrambles. If Valentina doesn’t get the first takedown or find her distance by round two, she’s in for a cardio crisis.

Prediction: Zhang by decision

Valentina Shevchenko vs. Weili Zhang Betting Odds

Valentina is the champion, so you could argue that she has a right to be the bookies’ favorite. At the time of writing, Shevchenko was priced at 1.78 against 2.08 for Weili Zhang. Again, I’m going against the bookmakers on this one, so Weili is excellent value at this price.
