Unicaja vs Real Madrid Game 4 Preview

After a narrow 86:84 win in Game 3, Unicaja have cut Real Madrid’s lead in the series to 2-1.

Can the team from Malaga pull off another home win to force a decisive Game 5, or will Real Madrid respond with a break and seal their place in the ACB League final?

Unicaja Form & Team News

Unicaja finally managed to get on the board in the semifinal series, edging out Real Madrid in a dramatic finish to claim their first win.

The Malaga-based side nearly blew a 19-point lead after a poor fourth quarter but held on, thanks to a bit of luck and a key decision in the dying seconds.

The turning point came just one second before the end of regulation. In a fast-break situation, Usman Garuba cleaned up missed layups from both Dzanan Musa and Mario Hezonja, tying the game at 84–84. It looked like the match was heading to overtime.

However, after a video review, officials spotted an elbow by Dzanan Musa on Kendrick Perry during the play, awarding Unicaja two free throws and possession.

With Perry injured, Alberto Díaz stepped up to the line and calmly knocked down both shots, sealing a hard-fought win and keeping Unicaja’s playoff hopes alive.

Real Madrid Form & Team News

Real Madrid were far from their usual level in Game 3 of the semifinal series, especially compared to their strong performances at home.

The Spanish giants were chasing the score from the opening minutes, mostly due to a high number of turnovers that gave Unicaja the early momentum. Despite nearly completing the comeback, a controversial foul in the final second ultimately cost them the game.

Even their overwhelming dominance on the glass (41 rebounds to 25) wasn’t enough to turn things around.

Mario Hezonja led the way for the second game in a row, finishing with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Dzanan Musa added 15, but his late-game foul made him the unfortunate figure of the night.

Campazzo, Llull, and Tavares also scored in double figures, each putting up 11 points in a hard-fought loss.

Head to Head

After seven head-to-head meetings this season, Real Madrid holds a narrow 4–3 edge. On Unicaja Malaga’s home court, the series is tied at 1–1.

Verdict

In recent seasons, Unicaja have proven fearless against any opponent, sticking firmly to their game plan no matter the challenge.

Last match, they dominated the court for more than 35 minutes, but a surprising late fade nearly snatched victory away. Hopefully, that scare has sharpened their focus going forward.
